Get to know me better

Being surrounded by many friends and participating in a variety of activities from an early age made me an energetic person. Basketball was the team sport I played when I first encountered leadership and what it meant to be a leader. I quickly realized that I wasn’t the most gifted, didn’t have the highest leap, and wouldn’t ever be the tallest, which was terrible at first but made sense later. It helped me understand what I must become to achieve. At every practice, I was the first one there and the last one to go. When everyone went out to party, I went to bed. When everyone took summer vacations, I worked with a coach to improve my talents. I was constantly giving my all to my teammates. I learned from doing that good leadership spreads; if you lead yourself well, others will follow, and even the most gifted player can’t defeat a cohesive group of average players.

I gave up my dream of playing basketball after high school to enroll in a Special Forces training program in the army. I had a medical situation that made me drop out as a result of the physical limitations we had to deal with week after week. Having come to terms with the circumstance, I went on with my life, yet this pain persisted no matter what I did. I had the decision to make, I could have given up and endured the suffering, or I could have resisted it. I opted for combat. I decide to look within myself for the leader.
With the aid of my teammates, I was able to obtain special permission to finish my training program and rejoin my squad after a protracted battle with the army. It had never happened before for someone to complete the course after spending so much time apart from the team and the unit. I was able to go through my fears, preexisting procedures, and restrictive circumstances. My ambition to become a top-tier combat soldier was accomplished. This served as yet another example of how anything is achievable if we have the correct help and the necessary level of resolve.
From my experiences, I learned the value of both internal and external leadership and how, if one is just prepared to give it their best, it may help one reach the stars.
